Life beyond your screen..!

Having a Facebook account has become a necessity once you
turn 15+.

How it starts :

It all starts with scrolling through your boring newsfeed and sending friend
requests.

But once you are all set, your life becomes Facebook-centred, which sets
me wondering why it has become such an integral part
of our lives

Our Facebook persona has become our primary concern
and we fail to realise we have a beautiful life beyond the
digital screen.

We pose for photos even better than models to gain a respectable
number of “likes”, we beat our brains for a fitting caption to
define our profile picture, we go to restaurants and cool
places only to update status or “check in” from that place.

Life without facebook :

Each and every moment of our life revolves around Facebook.

Let us rewind to our Facebook-less lives for a
moment.

We will realise that a select choice of candid photos recalls the choicest and genuine moments of our lives.

Calling on a friend on his/her birthday strengthens the bond of friendship better than posting a birthday wish on their walls.

We were happy in whatever small world we were in and we will discover this genuine and classic way of life can never be paralleled.

Despite having the chance to have contact with our old friends and distance mates, it is still way far inferior to our Fb-less lives.

Fb helps to gain loads of knowledge and the currents updates, yet not many people are using this social networking site for that very purpose.

People love to add new friends to their long list. but what they failed to realise is that, "Books and friends should be few and good.

Well, the debatable topic is whether FACEBOOK IS A BOON OR A BANE.

It totally depends on how people use it yet on the whole, I need to admit that it is certainly revolutionising our way of living.

What's ur say mates.....?

IPL Champions ..!

The long home season, IPL has ended and eventually Mumbai Indians have been crowned the Champions. It was unfortunate that CSK were runners up again. They have choked in 3 out of their 5 appearance in the final but they’ve proved that they’re the most consistent team in the IPL.

  • Electing to bat, MI were reeling at 16/3 at one stage. Karthik and Rayudu tried to steady the ship.

  • But it was Pollard’s day, who smashed an unbeaten 60 off 32 balls as MI reached a par 148/9.

  • Malinga was not at his usual best in this season but he delivered when it mattered the most, destroying CSK’s top order in the very first over. CSK were staring at the defeat as the scoreboard read 3/3.

  •  CSK never recovered after that blow as they ended on 125/9 with Captain Cool scoring a defiant 63 off 45 balls.

  • MI won their maiden IPL title by 23 runs against the two time champions CSK.

  • MoM : Kieron Pollard
  • Player of the series : Watson
  • Young Player : Samson (RR)
  • Best Catch : Gurkeerat Singh (KXI)
  •  Orange Cap : M. Hussey
  • Purple Cap : D. Bravo
  • Fair Play : CSK

Surprise commentary :

Harsha Bhogle asked Sachin to give commentary for a wicket off Bhajji’s bowling and he gave so enthusiastically showing that the child in him is still alive and his passion for the game continues to be so.

Meanwhile, Sachin announced casually that this was his last IPL and was happy that he was able to touch the IPL trophy within 6 years. The Master’s last IPL shot was a six into his own stand...!!

Incidentally, Sachin won the WC in his sixth attempt and the IPL too in his sixth attempt.

Now, we will able to see Sachin bat only in the test cricket. L

This IPL had a lot of controversies like the fight between the players, sledging, spot fixing claims and whatever we need to admit that this IPL has entertained us too.

Legends like Dravid, Gilchrist, Sachin, Punter will be missed largely in the next IPL though.

The Most useful site on the internet..!

Now-a-days, the second best friend to a internet user after Google is definitely WIKIPEDIA. If one needs the trace out something, there comes Wikipedia.

  •     Wikipedia was created as a complement and "feeder" to Nupedia.

  •     Nupedia was created in 2000, the plan was to feature expert-written, peer-reviewed content. But it suffered from a major problem, lack of speed.

  •     Its main contributor was Ward Cunningham.

  •     To improvise it, Larry Sanger suggested, creating a counterpart that anyone could contribute to without editorial review and the result was.

  •     Wikipedia is a non profit foundation, formally launched on Jan 15, 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger.

  •     The new model quickly eclipsed its older sibling.

  •     By the end of the first year, Wikipedia contained more than 20,000 articles in 18 languages.

  •     Since then, the site has grown rapidly,to 250,000 articles by 2004 and a million by 2006 and now more than 4 million entries and 17 billion users.

  •     People who edit Wikipedia are self-selected, self-titled "Wikipedians", who spend many hours working on articles.

  •     There are more than 1000 administrators.

  •     The problem that Wikipedia faces is, how to censor unacceptable or offensive content, without actually censoring information.

  •      The company's costs reach nearly $6 million per year. It has more than 100 billion page views per year yet it is and it will remain ad free.

  •     It is basically run by the donations funded all over the globe.

  •     So, as far as the funds flow, Wikipedia will educate people and will be a dominant site in the foreseeable future without advertising.

Who will reach IPL Play Offs....?

IPL has reached the exciting phase. Six teams are trying hard to make themselves through to the Play Offs. Everything will now depend on how teams take up the pressure in these crunch games.

Teams fighting for a spot in Qualifiers :

  • Chennai Super Kings :
They are the most consistent team in the IPL so far making the semis in all the editions. This time too they've positioned themselves in a desirable way. They are certain to get through to the next stage.

  • Rajasthan Royals :
They have got a great leader in the form of Rahul Dravid . His presence has immensely influenced the team in a positive way. They are sitting quite safely with 20 points but will hope that other teams don't spoil their party.

  • Mumbai Indians :
Mumbai have 20 points in their kitty. Mumbai too are on a high since Rohit Sharma has lead the side winning all the games as captain. Would love to see them through as well.

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore :
They are on 16 points and need to win both their matches against CSK and KXI. Their advantage is that both the games are on their home turf but they are too dependent on Gayle and AB.. As a RCB fan. needa keep my fingers crossed.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad :
The new addition to IPL is working really hard to make their way into the next stage with a strong bowling attack. They need to win both their matches to go through.

And for now, PWI, DD have been knocked out and the defending champs KKR and KXI have a mathematical chance of going through.

So, What's your prediction of teams for the PLAY OFFs..?

KISS - The Formula of Twitter....!

Yes, Kiss is the formula of Twitter.
It is Keep It Short and Simple.

Twitter is one of the most popular social networking site used today after FB.

The definition of twitter is “a short burst of inconsequential information” and “a series of chirps from birds”.

Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and by July, the social networking site was launched.

Along with him, Evan Williams and Biz stone also worked in this site and they never knew how popular this would become.

When they first created the site, they were just looking for a way to send text messages on their cell phones and a way to reinvent a somewhat dying company.

The first tweet was “just setting up my twttr” by Jack [@Jack].

Today Twitter has over 200 million users with about 460,000 new accounts being created each day. There are more than 140 million tweets sent each day.

It allows users to send only 140 characters called a tweet and it is termed as the best micro blogging site.

It is mainly popular among the celebrities and big icons because twitter allows them to have a pretty good interaction with their fan base and also communicate to them whatever they wish to.

In June 2008, Twitter launched a verification program, allowing celebrities to get their accounts verified.

Its exclusive brand caption is "What's happening?"

Though the twitter logo may look like a dove, it was addressed as the Mountain Bluebird.

It has four tabs, default tab is the tweets feed which contains all tweets from users whom you follow along with yours.

The second tab is for interactions and mentions. It is similiar to the notification in FB.

The third tab is Hashing that allows you to find the most trending topic in twitter and also people whom to follow and whom you may know.

The Final Tab is your profile which allows you to view your tweets, view direct messages and requests from the followers.

In October 2012, Twitter announced it had hired Google executive Matt Derella to become their new director of business agency development.

Dada - The Unsung Hero..!

Today is the day, when Sourav Ganguly played his final match of his career. Yes, its May 5th.

Who is that guy ?
Who can make Steve waugh
wait for 10 mins for the toss..

Who is that guy ?
Who can remove his jercy in
ecstacy in lords in front of
English crowd...

Who is that guy ?
Who can go to umpire and
force him to give for third
umpire decision when he feels
decision is wrong...

Who is that guy ?
Who can warn a batsman not
to run down the pitch when
even umpires forgot to warn...

Who is that guy ?
Who can bravely say to a
coach that he is being partial...

Who is that guy ?
Who roared back to prove
himself when everyone said
his career has ended...

Who is that guy ?
Who argues and fights to get a
player in the squad...

Who is that guy ?
Who showed that even India
can win overseas matches...

Who is that guy ?
Who stepped forward when
legends like Sachin himself
stepped back to take
captaincy ...

Can we see any other guy who is
such gutsy aggressive and
daring with bravery... And all
this with a smile on his face...

Sourav Ganguly became Indian
captain when the Indian team
was in black time, and he brought
India from 8th to 2nd rank in
ICC Test Rankings.

He was the 1st foreigner to
score a Test debut 100 at Lords.

He scored 16 test centuries and India haven't lost any match.

He won 4 consecutive man of the match awards in ODI,
which is a record and have won 31 man of the match
awards (3rd in the list) in ODI.

He has got the record of
maximum 6's in World Cup and
highest individual score of an
Indian in World Cup.

He is 4th in the no. of ODI 6s. He involved in the 1st 300
partnership in ODI which is still
the best in World Cup.

He gets claps by the fight
against the opposition team in
the ground and fights against team management and
others outside the field.
