facebook or what is facebook. I know, you are well aware the term and its
usage. But here are just the unheard facts of facebook. Have a look at it.
- Facebook is the world's largest social network, with more than 900 million users.
- It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg along with his fellows Harvard university students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes in Feb, 2004.
- The site was first limited only to the Harvard university students. As it was a huge success, the site was expanded to the nearby colleges and then gradually to various other colleges and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over.
- Facebook now allows any users who are above 13 years to be a registered user.
- According to a May 2011 Consumer reports survey, there are 7.5 million children under 13 with accounts and 5 million under 10, violating the site's terms of service.
- It is a multilingual networking site with more than 70 languages.
- The Facebook font is a custom font created by a font designer named Joe Kral, the closest font is probably Klavika Bold which is a commercial font.
- The font used in the body text of the Facebook is Lucida Sans and Lucida Grande.
- A January 2009 complete.com ranked Facebook as the most used social networking service.
- It is evident that even children are addicted to Fb now.
- The name stems from the colloquial name of the book given to the students at the start of the academic year in some universities in US to help students to get to know of each other.
- The Predecessor to Fb was FACEMASH. It was a comparing site, asking users to select the picture which is hotter between the two branded as “HOT OR NOT”.
- Facebook has met with controversies also . It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including the People's Republic of China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh on different bases.

fb is very much used to interact wid our frnds and also used to find new frnds i like fb . i have never used poke in fb and i want to knw its meaning so pls post d ans of poke....
It's usually just a little game people play or way of showing one's attraction on someone, so someone will poke you, you poke them back and it just goes on and on. It's pathetic but kinda fun played by fb users....."usually people poke only to their opposite sex...."

I think,it is used to see through one's profile info which r hidden to us.....even if we are not their friend.....

i think its simple if u want to gain anybody's attention u would juz poke them!! after the main purpose of fb is gain attention of others on u!!

Amazing replies guys.. well..! Here is the answer : The primary objective of poke is to get the attention of the individual, whom you wish to. Actually people poke others for fun and it will eventually result in a POKE WAR.. one main use of poke is . . if u poke a person (who is not ur friend and he has hidden all the infos abt him) and he pokes u back, u ll be awarded a 3 day permit to see his profile info's and hence u can add him if u've really known him. Ultimately, u may turn out as a friend with the desired person.
