Li - Fi Technology

Here is a masterpiece. You might have heard about the term Wi fi and its usage. But have you heard about Li-fi.?? Here is a small intro to that technology.

Li-Fi :

·       Li Fi is nothing but the Light fidelity communication systems.

·       It is the fastest and cheapest wireless communication systems and is the optical version of the Wifi.

·       The term was first used by Harald Haas in TED Global talk.

·       The technology works by adapting LEDs to send digital information, invisible to the naked eye.

·       A light sensor on a device picks up the digital information sent by the LED, which enables it to be processed by a computer.

·       It is similar to the Wifi except that it uses Light waves instead of Radio waves.

·       Wifi is great for general wireless coverage while Lifi is ideal for high density coverage in a confined region.

·       It is believed that the technology can yield a speed more than 10 Gbps, allowing a HD film to be downloaded within 30 seconds.

·       Its disadvantage is that the light waves cannot penetrate walls.

·       In 2012, this technology was demonstrated and it was detectable upto a distance of 10 meter.

·       Every light source in homes and offices could potentially be a “Li-Fi” within 20 years.

·       When this technology becomes feasible like the Wifi, then our life will be awesome on earth.

"This is the technology that could start to touch every aspect of human life within a decade”

well.. its another new technology created by the humans ..okay..but every new technology has its own disadvantages..is this technology feasible? can it be processed at a lower cost?...when it cannot penetrate walls, it 'll be too difficult to use it everywhere...but it 'll find vast applications in the governmental organisations..hope it'll be productive..

yup.. its feasible da.. it is of great use only in areas where Wifi is ineffective and in densely used areas.. but it will take its time before coming into existence..

a new era in communication.!!.awesome technology by man!!!
will it be suitable in india?

Rahul Ramfort said...

certainly.. but not today. surely by 2030.... ;-)

good piece of information.. US has implemented the fibre-optic communication in few of their government sectors.. However Li-Fi is going to be much more effective than that..

nice tech but juz imagine our environment full of li-fi systems won't there be juz too much light???
too much interference???

Rahul Ramfort said...

Hey dude, it is efficient only in densely populated or highly used areas. So der wont be any interference effect.. Don't think to the extreme.

@ aavee : Rightly said bro. its expected speed is just awesome.

actually it is in the developmental stage, that why it has not got enough popularity. Within 10 years, it will rule the world.

It will be d best, when it released now.....
its popularity is doubt aftr 20 yrs....

Rahul Ramfort said...

Actually works are going on to release this awesomeness ASAP.. So lets see when will get to use it.

how far is this possible with no electricity in Tamil Nadu...?

Rahul Ramfort said...

This is hypothetical question. It certainly needs electricity buddy. Good question though...!

Its a great technology alright, but don't u think it has less applications than the technologies usin radio frequencies? Can Li-Fi be used in broad daylight like Wi-Fi? This technology is confined for indoor use only, Can it be used in open environment outdoors like Wi-Fi?

Rahul Ramfort said...

Yeah i do doubt its functionality during bright sky yet there is always room for improvement in the technology and one cant decide its constrain before actually it's out..

The "Internet of things" would be very much feasible with this technology...
